Madison Lake: The City of Madison Lake held its required Truth In Taxation meeting as scheduled on December 1 but continued the meeting on the December 15, 2014, council meeting. There will be a workshop at 6:00 P.M., followed by the regular council meeting at 7:00 P.M. The budget should be approved at the regular council meeting. The original proposed increase was published at a 6.1% increase, the largest of the four cities covered by the Lake Region Times.

Proposed levies for 2015 have been mailed to all property owners. Property taxes are determined by the valuation (estimated market value) and class of property, a possible homestead exclusion, and the taxing jurisdictions approved tax levies, such as your city or township, the county, the school district and approved and other school levies. Final levies, with the final jurisdictional approved levies, will be mailed to property owners by the end of March, 2015.
