The City of Lisbon is looking into installing cameras in City Park.

"It's sad that we have to do this," said council member Doug O'Connor.

In recent months, vandalism in the area has included damage to the bathrooms, the cutting of the lock on the back gate around the new splash pad/wading pool, and people using the wading pool as a toilet.

City, administrator Connie Meier reported to the council that the vandalism has not abated since the pool closed for the season in the middle of September.

At its meeting last week, the council reviewed two quotes from companies to install a video monitoring system. Quotes, depending on the number of cameras and where they were installed, came in between $1,173 and $4,071.

The council did not award a bid because it wants an option that does not include installing a computer server in the pump house, which has a lot of heat and moisture in the summer. Instead, it wants to pursue a WiFi option so the video feed could easily be accessed from City Hall.
