Edith Peavy Smith, age 72, of Doraville, GA passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2015. She was preceded in death by her father, H. L. Peavy. She is survived by her children, Tina Marie Rageth, Panama City, FL, Chuck and Leisa Smith, Gainesville, GA, and Yolanda Payne, Lilburn, GA; mother, Myrtice Peavy, Manchester, GA; six grandchildren, two great grandchildren; sister, Joanne Lofton, Manchester, GA, brother Rudolph Peavy, Waverly Hall, GA, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Smith was born October 12, 1942 in Shiloh, GA. She was a graduate of Manchester High School in Manchester, GA. She retired from Internal Revenue Service in Data Entry. She was a member of the Church of God Faith. She loved southern gospel music. At a very early age, she sang with her parents — H.L. and Myrtice Peavy of Manchester, GA. She played the musical instruments of a banjo and a guitar. In 1974, she and her family joined the Lyles (J.R. and Sheryl) of Sugar Hill, GA to form a southern gospel group called "GOD'S ANOINTED". They traveled all over Georgia and into surrounding areas of Panama City, FL, playing music and singing in many different churches across the area. Graveside service will be held Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Meriwether Memory Gardens, 2565 Roosevelt Highway, Manchester, GA 31816, with Pastor Robbie Shirah officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, October 2, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
