The Murals in Meriwether Group has announce that all seven cities in Meriwether have joined the project.

Gay, Lone Oak, Luthersville, Greenville, Woodbury, Warm Springs and Manchester will now all feature a mural.

The project was developed out of a recommendation by the Georgia Department of Economic Development — Tourism Division in 2014.

The plan is that each city in Meriwether County will have a mural that will celebrate its history and culture while reflecting a county wide theme.

THE MURALS will be an individual art piece within each city while "simultaneously being a cohesive county wide art project."

Meriwether unty will be the only county in the state with a county wide mural project acting as a single piece.

Holly Winner, Director of Development for the RWS Development Fund and Murals in Meriwether Coordinator, along with Lisa Thompson, City Clerk of Warm Springs, and Cheryl Moultrie, a community leader in Woodbury, are leading the way, with John Christian of Go Georgia Arts providing the artistic experience. The murals group was recently awarded a $3,000 matching grant from Georgia Council for the Arts for FY 2016.
