For many students, getting to travel to somewhere out of the country is just a mere dream. For Presley Earll, daughter of Stacy Earll and Tacy Moreland of Boone the dream will become a reality. Earll has been selected to travel to Australia with the People to People Student Ambassador Program and will be traveling with the Ames/Fort Dodge area delegates.

She will leave for Australia June 13, 2010 and will spend a total of 15 days abroad.

While abroad Earll will get to visit the Sydney Opera House, take a surf lesson, snorkel on the Great Barrier Reef and meet with members of the Aborigine culture.

"I'm most excited to snorkel on the Great Barrier Reef and to hold a koala bear," exclaimed Earll. "The only things that I'm nervous about are that I will get homesick or my luggage will get lost."

People to People is an organization created by Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1946. The objective is peace through understanding.

The organization seeks well-rounded students for the program. Earll, a student at Boone High School, participates in varsity football and basketball cheerleading, GRIP mentoring, student council, Key club, and takes various dance classes. She also maintains a high GPA.

Once accepted students must complete a series of homework assignments, projects and tests about the culture and history of the country they will be visiting.

As a way to finance her trip, Earll is organizing cheerleading-themed birthday parties for young girls. During the parties she teaches cheers and jumps, helps the girls make miniature pom-poms, and helps decorate cupcakes.

Earl is the granddaughter of John and Janice Earll of Ogden and Tim and Rita Knight of Boone.
