The Durbin & Greenbrier Valley Railroad (DGVR) will close out its 2015 operating season with two major travel/tourism awards. The railroad was recently presented with the 2015 Certificate of Excellence for its outstanding customer reviews of its New Tygart Flyer train excursion.

The award is earned through consistently positive reviews submitted by customers online at TripAdvi The award recognizes business accommodation, food service, overall customer experience, and all amenities offered by a business. The annual award is a testament to the railroad's commitment to hospitality and quality in each and all of its scenic train rides in West Virginia.

The Durbin & Greenbrier Valley Railroad was also presented with the West Virginia Division of Tourism Mountain State Award. This annual award was presented to John and Kathy Smith of the DGVR in October.

The Mountain State Award is given annually to a facility or attraction that stands above others in its field. The award recognizes the quality of activities for tourists, as well as distinctiveness, marketing efforts, and its impact on the state's economy and image. A panel of industry experts administers the awards.

"We thank the West Virginia Tourism Commission for this wonderful award and are humbled to be honored this way," DGVR President John Smith said.

The DGVR operates scenic Mountain Rail Adventures from Elkins, Cheat Bridge, Durbin and Cass, April through December. The railroad is also the only West Virginia licensed operator of the Polar Express™ Train Ride. To learn more, visit the railroad's website at
