Modifications coming

At last Wednesday's special called board meeting, UPSB members voted to reject the $30 million bid proposed by local contractor, Don Barron. When bids were opened last week, Barron was the only bidder for the proposed Union Parish High School construction project.

M3A Architecture have now been instructed by the board to make design changes, in an effort to lower the cost. It may be after the Christmas holidays before the project will be reopened for new bids. The board is hoping that other contractors will be willing to place bids for the project that was originally budgeted by the board at $27 million.

Budget delays have continued to snag construction projects at both Downsville Charter and now UPHS. UPSB President George Cannon, feels confident that architectural changes will help get the Union

Parish High construction project back on track Work on the Downsville Charter is presently underway, with hopes of being completed by the year's end.

Hopefully 2016 will be a smoother year for the board as they work past these latest setbacks.
