Bailey Funeral Home Springhill, LA

Funeral services for Mr. William Alfred "Al" Jester, age 84, were held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 29, 2015 at the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Phillip Casper officiating. Burial was in the Springhill Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA.

Visitation was held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Jester was born on September 3, 1931 in Minco, OK to Herman and Emma Gorham Jester and passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2015 in Springhill, LA. He was a lifelong resident of this area, a member of Central Baptist Church and was a veteran of the U. S. Marines. He was a graduate of Springhill High School, class of 1949 and was a member of the football team. He was a retired employee of Holsum Bread Company with 39 years' service and was an avid outdoorsman, loved hunting and fishing. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Ted Jester and R. L. Jester.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Freda Bridwell Jester; daughters, Dena Denise Clark and husband, Jerry of Homer, LA; Pamela Schulman and husband, Neal of Ormand Beach, FL; Lorie Ann Jester of Springhill, LA; son, William Burke "Dub" Jester and wife, Roxanne of Longview, TX; seven grandchildren, Colby Jester and wife, Megan, Patrick Jester, Abby Jester, Alyssa Jester, Brooke Grant and husband, Grant, Mindy McConnell and husband, Zachary, Lauren Carraway and husband, Justin; great-grandchildren, Claire, Carsyn, Noah, Marley and Dakota; brother, Virgil Lee Jester and wile, Sue of Bossier City, LA and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Johnny Vaughan, Keith Thomas, Mike Smith, Ed Grant, Zac McConnell and Tim Smith.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were Patrick Jester and Colby Jester.
