Lilburn Loyd Hagins

Lilburn Loyd Hagins, 71, of Forney, Tex., died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2015, at Baylor Hospital in Dallas.

He was born on Dec. 9, 1940, in Peach Orchard, Ark., to William and Opal Hagins and raised in Texarkana, Tex. He was one of eleven sons and had one sister.

Loyd moved to Oak Cliff, Tex. in 1959 where he met Betty Bean at Grace Temple Baptist Church. They were married June 16, 1962, and moved to Mesquite, Tex., the following year where they lived and raised their family until May, 2015.

He worked for more than 30 years at Dallas Power & Light Co., which was a subsidiary of Texas Utilities Company. He took an early retirement the company offered and worked various jobs including greeter at the Cracker Barrel in Mesquite.

His survivors include: his wife, Betty Hagins of Forney; two sons, Cameron Hagins of Piano, Tex., and Brandon and his wife Stacy Hagins of Protection; along with three grandchildren, Samantha, Kailey, and Trenton Hagins of Protection. He is also survived by one brother, Wilburn Hagins of Queen City, Tex., and one sister, Martha Youngblood of Doddridge, Ark.

Funeral services were Saturday, Oct. 31, with burial following at the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Hugo, Okla.
