Representatives from the Pima County Assessor's Office will be at the Salazar-Ajo Library on Wednesday, January 23, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to talk about tax exemptions for widows, widowers, and individuals who are 100% disabled. PCAO staff will conduct one-on-one interviews to determine eligibility and possible property tax reductions.

To qualify, widows, widowers, and disabled persons must have income less than $30, 008 (Social Security income is not counted) and a full cash value of property less than $244, 690.

Widows and widowers must bring a copy of a death certificate to the interview. Disabled persons require a medical certificate signed by a physician. Also required are a property tax statement or notice-of-value card and a copy of the Arizona State Tax Return. .

"If you're not sure if you qualify and you have questions, we encourage you to come and talk with us at the library to get all the information," said Grace Gutierrez, supervisor with the Exemptions Section of PCAO.

Churches and non-profits may also qualify for tax exemptions, noted Gutierrez. She said qualification requirements for churches and nonprofits are quite extensive and she recommends calling PCAO at 520-243-7500 for more information.
