Boyd W. Vansickle, 81, of Hurricane, formerly of St. Albans, passed away Monday, January 25, 2010, at Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston.

Born March 19, 1928, in Hinton, Boyd was a son of the late Boyd W Sr. and Alease (Matheny) Vansickle, Boyd retired from Union Carbide Corp after 38 years service He was an avid outdoors man, you could find him hunting, fishing, gardening, or woodworking. Above all though Boyd, loved and was devoted to his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Dorothy J. Vansickle; his daughters, Donna (John) Dodd of Raleigh, N.C., Brenda (Jesse) Kave of Hurricane, and Karen (Marilyn) Drake of Cleveland, Ohio; grandchildren, Isaac (Aynessa) Kave, Jessalyn (Eddie) Curtis, and Ashby (Jennifer) Kave; greatgrandchildren, Chafe Isaac Kave, Elias Kave, Ella Curtis, and Ethan Curtis; sisters, Jo Ann Fox of Hinton and Mary (Ted) Miller of Sylvester and many cousins and other family. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 27, at Chapman Funeral Home, 3941 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane. Burial followed in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.

Friends called from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 26 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Boyd's memory may be made to the American Diabetic Association, 644 Lynn St., Suite 304, Cincinnati, Oh. 45203.

The family would also like to say thank you to Dr. Art Lim and the nurses at Day Surgery at CAMC General Hospital, Charleston. Your kindness and care will never be forgotten.
