Laura Jean "Granny" Adams

WIBAUX, Mont. — Laura Jean "Granny" Adams, 84, of Wibaux, Mont., formerly of Beach, passed away on Friday, Oct. 30, 2015. at the Wibaux County Nursing Home in Wibaux.

Visitation1 was held, on Monday, Nov. 2, from l-8 p.m. in the Chapel of the Silha Funeral Home in Beach. Prayer services were held on Monday, Nov. 2, at 5 p.m. in the Silha Funeral Chapel. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Nov. 3, at 10 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Sentinel Butte, Y'th the Rev. Dana Holter officiating. Interment followed at the Lutheran Cemetery in Beach. Silha Funeral Home of Beach was entrusted with arrangements.

Jean was born April 28, 1931, in Beach, a daughter of Vern E. and Inez (Franzen) Myers. She attended elementary school at the Camel Hump and the Lee schools north of Sentinel Butte. Jean graduated from Sentinel Butte High School with the class of 1949. After high school, she attended Dickinson State Teachers College and received her teaching certificate.

After college, Jean married her best friend Cecil "Swede" Adams on Aug. 8, 1949, in Beach. Jean taught school for one year at the Plain View School before starting her family. Jean and Swede spent their working lives ranching north of Sentinel Butte. They retired in 1994 and moved into Beach where they lived until entering the Wibaux County Nursing Home in July 2014.

Jean was' a member of the Sentinel Butte Homemakers club and Trinity Lutheran Church of Sentinel

Butte. She performed many duties as an active member of the Trinity Ladies Aid. After they moved to Beach, Jean joined a weekly pinochle club which she thoroughly enjoyed. Jean was a fantastic cook and 'always had something homemade when anyone visited. She cooked for many large groups at brandings and other local events. Jeanespecially loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was always proud of their accomplishments.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil "Swede" Adams; her parents and her sister, Judy McG-lynn.

Jean is survived by her children Caty (Ron) Zook of Beach; Connie (John) Tate of Hunter, N.D.; John (Jane) Adams of Devils Lake; and James Adams of Medora; one sister, Jb Ann Gorrell of Trotters: along with 14 grandchildren and 20 greatgrandchildren.
