85, of Clay passed away on September 12, 2009. Bernie was a veteran of World War II serving in the European Theatre of Operations as a Forward Radio Operator in the U.S. Army. He later served 20 years in and retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Tech Sgt. He retired from N.C.R. Corp as Manager of Computer System Installations in 1984. Bernie was predeceased by his wife, Jean; siblings, Arlene Tetzlaff, Joe Michalke, Ronnie Michalke and Corrine Michalke. Survivors include one daughter, Patty Dison (Joel); two sons, Steve Michalke (Teresa) and Mike Michalke (Debra); one sister, Katy Gaare (Roger); one brother Bruce Michalke; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Visitation was held on Monday, September 14 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. Graveside services was held on Tuesday, September 15 at 11:00 AM in Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
