Roy Dewayne "Bear" Wanamaker

On Tuesday, October 27, 2015, Roy Dewayne "Bear" Wanamaker of McEwen passed away.

Mr. Wanamaker was 67 years of age.

Burial was in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Luff Bowen Funeral Home.

Mr. Wanamaker was born June 3, 1948 in Waverly. He was a retired construction superintendent and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. He was a McEwen High School Class of 1966 Alumni. He was an avid reader and antique glass collector. He enjoyed watching westerns, football games and the History Channel of television.

Mr. Wanamaker was the son of the late Kenneth Eugene Wanamaker and Vertha Novella Wanamaker. He was married to Mary Frances Wanamaker of McEwen.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Bridget Rose Martin and Denise Rawls (Robert) all of McEwen; three grandchildren, Zach Rawls, Anisa "Punkin" Rawls, and Jordan Rawls (Alisia Richardson); two brothers, Ronnie Wanamaker (Monica) of Elkton, Ky. and Donnie Wanamaker of Jacksonville Beach, Fla.; one sister, Debbie Hatcher (Wayne) of McEwen; two aunts, Mary Grace Forrester (Larry) of McEwen and Stella Clark of Hunts ville. Ala.; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
