Telephone answering machine: "This is not an answering machine. This is a telepathic thought recording device. After the tone, think about your name, think about your number, and think about your reason for calling. Then I'll think about returning your call." +Last month I quoted from a 1901 article on what wonders would abound if a little magic wand could tap into the electricity flowing all around us. That little magic wand is now here in the form of a little piece of plastic held in the hand: It's a telephone, a camera, a game board, a computer, your postman (texting), a music box, and other little nice-to-haves all rolled into one!

ln composing "Come, Ye Thankful People Come," Henry Alford used the common theme of his day, the harvest festival known in England as the Harvest Home, to paint a picture of God's faithful provision. English churches celebrated Harvest Home each autumn usually in September. A thanksgiving service was held in the church where the bounty of the harvest was gathered and afterwards distributed to the needy. (Mature Living.)

No one's life, liberty, or property is safe while the legislature is in session — or the President is off the golf course!

As one looking on at today's headlines in light of biblical prophecy, and particularly in this year of the Shemitah and 70th Jubilee, I would be getting quite nervous were I an atheist. We have just come through two record-breaking hurricanes, and this may be just the shot over the bow. In his April 1973 vision, Dave Wilkerson foresaw a future of "tornadoes, floods, and hailstorms, and hurricanes pounding the Earth with great intensity and violence." Other unsettling scenes also unfolded. It seems God is imparting to modern-day prophets further details of "signs in the sun, moon, and stars, and upon the earth distress of nations with perplexity, the sea and waves roaring." (Luke 21:25.) Take heart, though; it's cleansing the Earth of wickedness and its residue, making ready for the thriving and peaceful Earth to come.

Riddle: What happened when the turkey got into a fight? (Answer elsewhere in paper.)

ln 1968, The Club of Rome was founded with a goal toward establishing a New World Order by the year 2000, and have already delineated the ten kingdoms or regions, one of which comprises Canada, USA, and Mexico, with leadership yet to be determined. Interestingly, in the past year the President has met with the Roman Prime Minister, the Pope, and paved the way for a nuclear Iran. Ignoring our Constitution, he has doggedly and systematically weakened our own economic and military infrastructures, and is desperately still trying to get around the Second Amendment:"... the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." +Bible verse for today: "Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house." (Matt. 12:29.) +Bible reading for November: Philippians, Chap. 4; Psalm 11.
