Tom McCrumm of South Face Farm placed first in the Senior Masters Sport category of the Vermont 50 Mountain Bike event, becoming the oldest participant and first septuagenarian in the race's 23-year history to complete the demanding and technical course. Erin Wooldridge of Plainfield finished first in the Women's Senior Sport category and Richard Warner of Buckland first in the Senior Masters Expert division. Other local finishers included Phil Pless of Ashfield and Jason and Jamie Wooldridge of Plainfield.

Held each year on the last weekend in September, the Vermont 50 Mountain Bike or Ultra Run is one of the largest events of its kind in the eastern U.S. with 650 mountain bikers and almost 200 runners. It is the largest fundraising event for Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports Association, which provides custom-made equipment for handicapped individuals who would otherwise be unable to participate in outdoor sports.

In recognition of his outstanding accomplishment, Tom was presented with an ornately embossed bottle of Vermont maple syrup!
