The (SEARHC) SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium recent ly used a billing service to send out past-due notices on some older ac counts. These recent notices are con fusing and lead some patients to think their accounts have been sent to a collection agency. We want to assure our patients that no accounts have gone into collection status at this time. We apologize for the con fusion and are working with our pa tients to clear up any concerns they may have with their bills.

While most of the bills mentioned in these past-due notices are correct, we discovered issues with some ac counts and are working to get those fixed. If you've got questions about your bill, please call our Patient Ac counts department so we can verify the charges. The amount may be for an insurance co-pay or deductible, or it may be for a service that was not covered by your insurance com pany. Our Sitka patients can call 966-2411 & ask to be connected to the Patient Accounts department, & our patients from other communities can call 1-877-966-8433 (toll free in Alaska).

"We apologize for the disruption and confusion, and we hope to work with our patients to ensure that their accounts are correct," said Joan Carr, SEARHC Revenue Cycle Dir ector. "We have fixed our phone system so we can take calls in a more timely manner. If you get a re cording, please let us know your name, contact information, the best time to call and concerns about your bill. We will take your information, research the problem and get back to you with an answer as soon as possible."

If you've moved, changed phone numbers or insurance information, please call your local clinic to up date your record.

Again, SEARHC apologizes for the confusion and we are working to correct the accounts as soon as pos sible. If you do have any concerns with your accounts, please contact our Patient Accounts department so we can research the problem and get back to you with an answer.
