In the News: Don't fall for internet Walmart survey scam

REGIONAL -- The Shelby County Sheriff's Office has been alerted to an internet scam circulating in the county.

Residents are being emailed by someone posing to be from the Walmart stores. The message explains the recipient has been chosen to take part in the survey, and can earn $150 for doing so. It then asks for personal information such as a social security number, date of birth, credit card number, etc.

This message indicates the information will be provided to all Walmart stores so the $150 gift certificante can be redeemed.

Walmart has been contacted and confirms this is a scam, and no such survey is being conducted by their stores. Questions can be directed to the sheriff's office at 755-5026.
