HARLAN - A benefit concert featuring "The Mighty Nish Band," with proceeds going to West Central Community Action Agency, will be held at The Lounge in Harlan Saturday, Feb. 14 from 8 p.m.-2 a.m.

There will be an auction, appetizers and raffle.

WCCA's mission is to assist families and individuals in reaching their highest potential. It has served southwest Iowa for more than 40 years through a variety of self-sufficiency programs. Anti-poverty programs are administered in a 10-county service area. Not all counties get all programs, but they have a local outreach office that works with clients.

Programs include everything from services for child care providers and payment assistance for fuel bills to utility and rent assistance in emergency situations and an employment program for low-income individuals age 55 and older.

WCCA also coordinates Head Start, a comprehensive early childhood development program; WIC, which provides services for women, infants and children at nutritional risk; and the Family Development/Self Sufficiency program, which provides support to families facing multiple barriers in their efforts to find and maintain employment.

The benefit concert is open to the public.
