Superior Optimist Club awards art contest winners

Mila Besich-Lira, President of the Superior Optimist Club, and Bryan Seppala, a board member with the Globe-Miami Chamber of Commerce, presented cash awards to three students for the winning entries in the Mining Rocks Festival youth art competition.

Matthew Perez and Matthew Diaz-Gonzalez were grand prize winners each student won $50 for their mixed media diorama, chosen from the 300 plus entries that were submitted from Globe, Miami and Superior schools. Marissa Estatico was awarded $25 as the local winner from Superior for her pencil drawing of the smelter in Superior.

The Mining Rocks event was held in early October at Bullion Plaza and was hosted by the Globe Miami-Chamber of Commerce. The Superior Optimist Club along with the Copper Cities Rotary and Globe Rotary clubs sponsored the youth art competition.
