Joan Bernice Ruesink-Alexander, 82

Joan Bernice Ruesink-Alexander, 82, of Rochester, passed away Thursday, Oct. 29, 2015, at Cottagewood Senior Communities.

Joan Bernice Eickhoff was born Nov. 13, 1932, to Alvin and Nora (Hanson) Eickhoff in Fillmore County. Joan graduated from Wykoff High School and lived in Chatfield before moving to Rochester in 1946, and resided there since. Joan worked in real estate and appraising for 42 years; she retired in 2003. Joan married Harley Ruesink on June 20, 1951; they later divorced in 1966. Joan married Bert Alexander Jr. on May 17, 2002, in Rochester. Bert passed away on Feb. 10, 2014.

Joan served as a past President on the Board of Realtors in Rochester, was a member of multiple listing services, and was past President of Rochester Chapter of NAIFA, and also served as a National Director. Joan was a member at Bethel Lutheran Church.

Joan is survived by her son, Terry J. (Christopher Norris) Ruesink of Rochester; three granddaughters, Melissa (Billy) Schreader of Pine Island, Schanelle (Adam) Hansen of Rochester and Fallon Schmiedeberg of Eyota; five great-grandchildren, Chloe, Addison, Benjamin, Madelyn and Nora; and her beloved dog, Pompi.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bert; her parents; one son, Steven G. Ruesink; and her sister, Janice Ford.

A memorial service was held on Tuesday, Nov. 3, at Bethel Lutheran Church. Burial took place at Fillmore Community Cemetery in Fillmore.
