Well-known veteran editor brings years of experience to Beacon family of newspapers

Beacon Publishing has named David Pan as its new sports editor.

Pan most recently was the editor for Lynnwood Today and MLT News, two community news websites that focused on Lynnwood and Mountlake Terrace.

He covered city council, education, business and sports. Pan also was a contributing writer for My Edmonds News.

A longtime resident of south Snohomish County, Pan previously was the sports editor for the Weekly Herald/Enterprise newspapers in Lynnwood, where his beat included 11 public and private high schools in three different school districts and two community colleges. Two of those schools were Jackson and Archbishop Murphy

Pan worked for The Daily Herald in Everett where he wrote about high school sports, and he was the sports editor for the Pierce County Herald in Puyallup.

"We're very happy to have David join our team," Publisher Paul Archipley said. "He is well known in the youth sports community, and will be able to hit the ground running.

"His addition to our staff demons strates our ongoing commitment to provide the most comprehensive local news to the communities we serve."

Pan will oversee sports coverage for all three newspapers in the Beacon family — the Mukilteo Beacon, Edmonds Beacon and Mill Creek Beacon. Readers also will find sports coverage on the Beacon's three websites and regular updates on its social media platforms, including Facebook and Twitter.

The Edmonds Beacon was first published in 1986. It's a weekly newspaper, with new issues printed every Thursday.

Circulation is 10,000-plus, with home delivery available by carriers, and distribution to racks at more than 80 stores, businesses and schools in the community

Total circulation for all three newspapers of Beacon Publishing's community newspapers tops 32,000.
