Simple farmer's legacy lives on

An Inwood farmer's estate brought $3.6 million for the McCrossan Boys Rartth in Sioux Falls.

Arie Huyser, who passed away in May at the age of 65, willed his 220 acres of farmland to be auctioned off, with proceeds donated to the ranch. The three parcels of land and acreage were sold Oct. 28 near Inwood.

"This is one of the largest donations we've ever had," said Brian Rogiers, executive director at McCrossan Boys Ranch, a nonprofit organization which provides a safe home for troubled boys who have experienced conflict in their lives.
