As the owner of Ruff-N-Ready Armory, Denis Knobloch wants to help customers find firearms and related gear that fit their needs — from popular products to obscure ones.

Knobloch opened the online business Oct. 8. He also operates in Alvord where he has run a machine shop, Kam Inc., since 1992.

"My interest in firearms and machinery, they kind of go hand-in-hand," he said. "I've had a gun in my hand since I was 7 years old. I just enjoy them and appreciate the right to have them."

Ruff-N-Ready Armory has access to over 3 million products, including rifles, shotguns, ammunition, magazines, optics, knives and parts and gear.

The demand for firearms outweighs the supply, Knobloch said. His mission is to provide a quality product at a fair price and be in tune with the needs of discerning customers.

Knobloch enjoys hunting and target shooting. Precision rifles are his specialty.

"Being able to hit a tiny target a long way off is exciting," he said.

The longest shot he's ever made hunting was 500 yards on a prairie dog with a rifle he made himself, Ugly Betty. The gun's name preceded the TV show, he said.

Knobloch is a member of the National Firearms Dealer network. He also performs transfers and background checks.

He named his business after the minute-men, colonists who were self-trained in military tactics during the Revolutionary War and known for being ready at a minute's notice.

Ruff-N-Ready Armory is online at http://ruffnreadyarmory.com and at 223 Main St. in Alvord. The shop is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

Customers can also reach Knobloch at 712-212-5559 or 712-473-2400.
