Bonnie Mae Sturlaugson, age 80 of Park River, ND passed away on Friday, October 30, 2015 at First Care Health Center of Park River.

Bonnie Mae Machart was born February 19, 1935 in Loma, ND the daughter of the late Louis and Mary (Gurley) Machart. She attended school in Langdon, ND, graduating Valedictorian of the class of 1953. Bonnie was united in marriage to Lee Sturlaugson on June 14, 1953 in Langdon, ND. The couple made their home in the Minneapolis area while Lee finished Veterinary School. In 1955 the couple moved back to Langdon and lived there for a short time before moving to Lakota. In 1959 the couple moved to Park River where they established their Veterinary Clinic. In 1976 she started working as a bank teller for First State Bank. She worked herself up to Insurance Agent for First State Insurance Agency and later First United Insurance Agency, retiring in 1996.

Bonnie was a member of the Federated Church and Federated Church Women Fellowship, the P.E.O. Chapter Q, and a former member of the Order of Eastern Star.

She is survived by her children: Stephen (Wanda) Sturlaugson, Carson, ND; Dr. Eric (Kim) Sturlaugson, Zimmerman, MN; Lea (John) Holm, Park River, ND; Dr. Kristi (Sam) Midgarden, Park River, ND; 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and sister, Cordy (David) Strand, Aitkin, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lee on June 14, 2015, sisters: Eleanor, June and Marion and brothers: Don, Frank, Harold and Louis.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. at the Federated Church of Park River. Visitation was held Tuesday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Federated Church. Friends may also call at the church on Wednesday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Park River, ND.
