A tough tie-breaker split up the money in the De Baca County News football contest in Week 10 of the regular season, which included the games of Oct. 30-Nov. 2.

Three contestants tied for the top spot, all with 13-3 records on the week. They included Sam Sena of Fort Sumner, Ezra Sena of Clovis and the Week 9 champ, Grace Roybal of Fort Sumner.

All three correctly picked the Foxes over Jal in the tie-breaker game, sending judges to the point totals to award the $50 in prizes.

Ezra Sena picked the Foxes 28-15. Compared to the actual score of 47-6, his pick was 28 points from the perfect score. Roybal picked the Foxes 34-20, a difference of 27 points from the actual. That moved Ezra Sena to third position and guaranteed him the $10 prize.

But the old veteran Sam Sena had his day, picking the Foxes 28-12-a difference of 25 from the actual score. The pick gave Sam the $25 first prize and moved Roybal to second. She earned $15.

Honorable mention for the week went to a pair of out-of-town contestants who finished the week at 12-4 — Jan Richards of Roswell and Gerald Sena of Clovis.
