The White City council held a special meeting last Wednesday evening for a hearing concerning a waiver to allow Callaham's Bar and Grill to open in a new location (the former Wreck Center/Huskie Hangout). City ordinance requires a business selling alcohol to be 300 feet from any church, school, nursing home, library or hospital. To receive the waiver, the city must hold a special public hearing.

Four council members (Kaleb Effiand was absent), the mayor, city clerk and approximately 45 people were in attendance.

No one spoke in opposition to the waiver.

Jason, Evans, John Lee, Roy Glessner, Vern Estes and Julie Meyer all voiced the need to welcome businesses and support all businesses in the city. Rural areas are struggling to keep businesses open and all agreed the need for support to keep all local businesses vital.

Following the comments, the council voted 4-0 to approve the waiver.
