WCHS Students To Participate In College App Week

November is College Application Month in Kentucky. Webster County High School will participate during their 3rd Annual College Application Week, November 9-13. To prepare for the week, seniors have been conducting career and college research by reviewing education needed for careers, comparing and contrasting colleges, and degree programs to determine which should be their focus during College Application Week. Seniors will have assistance in completing enrollment applications, housing applications, searching for scholarships, revising college application essays, updating their cover letter and resume, and any other requirements necessary to complete their application process. In addition, a representative from Henderson Community College will be here on the 9th to assist students, Casi Clark KHEAA Outreach Counselor, will be here on the morning of the 11th to assist and answer questions concerning FAFSA, and a KY Wesleyan College representative will be here on the 12th. Parents are welcomed to stop by and assist their child or Here are some tips that KHEAA recommends to help seniors complete the admissions process:

Student's Biographical Information — name, address, valid email address, telephone number, and social security number

Parents' Biographical Information — place of employment, attended college or not, valid email addresses and phone numbers

ACT/SAT Score — have a copy of your highest or most recent score

High School Transcript — need an official copy of your transcript or log into www.parchment.com and send an electronic transcript

Resume — updated and edited before sending to schools

College Admissions Essay — make sure it has been revised before submitting

Letters of Recommendation — choose people you trust to write letters of recommendation for you

Payment — make sure to have a form of payment, such as a credit card number, so you can submit the application and pay the application fee For students who are following a career track, they will be finalizing a basic cover letter, resume, searching job databases, and conducting a career mapping activity.

This is a focused week for seniors to think about their future plans. All options, a two-year, four-year, industry certification, and diplomas, lead to higher earnings.
