Senator Dorsey Ridley (D-Henderson) was honored with a "Friend of Kentucky Cities" award at the City of Henderson's board of commissioners meeting on Tuesday afternoon. The "Friend of Kentucky Cities" award is given by the Kentucky League of Cities (KLC) to legislators who perform outstanding work in the legislature advocating for issues that impact cities across the state.

"As a businessman, I understand the importance of Kentucky's cities. Even before I was a legislator, I was an advocate and worked to preserve and strengthen our cities," Senator Ridley said. "To receive this award is an honor. However, it is an even greater honor to receive it from an organization that shares a like-minded vision and a dedication to sustaining our cities. Thank you to the Kentucky League of Cities for this award and for its continued work on behalf of the cities that I represent and all the cities across our commonwealth."

"KLC appreciates the dedication and hard work put forth by Senator Ridley during the 2015 legislative session," said J.D. Chaney, KLC deputy executive director. "Senator Ridley has continued to be a champion for Kentucky's cities and we appreciate his wide-ranging and consistent support." Jonathan Steiner, executive director/CEO of the Kentucky League of Cities, also commended Senator Ridley. "Senator Ridley has been a strong voice for Kentucky cities in Frankfort. KLC appreciates the relationship we have with Senator Ridley and are pleased to give him this award."

Founded in 1927, the Kentucky League of Cities is a membership association of more than 370 cities across the commonwealth. KLC has offices in Lexington and Frankfort and provides cities, leaders and employees with a number of services, including legislative advocacy, legal services, financial services, community consulting, policy development, research, training and education, and more.
