Rapid response training program by CLTCC slated

The Central Louisiana Technical Community College/Rod Brady Campus in Jena, is planned a rapid response training program aimed at preparing interested employees for jobs at the new Universal Plant Services facility at Jena.

Universal Plant Services (UPS) is opening a new location on LA 8 just west of Jena and will be hiring approximately 50 to 60 millwrights apprentices/B class mechanics.

Information sessions for the rapid response training program was held at Rod Brady Campus on Thursday, Dec. 19, from 3 to 4 p.m., and from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Training details were discussed at these sessions.

Another information session is planned for January 7 at the Rod Brady Campus, and will be held from 3 to 4 p.m., and from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Classes will start in January 2014, and the UPS training program includes the following: first aid certification, OSHA certification (30 hour), millwright fundamentals, mechanical components, and mechanical systems maintenance.
