A Blountstown man who alleged choked his pregnant daughter has been charged with domestic battery by strangulation and aggravated battery on a pregnant person, according to a report from the Blountstown Police Department.

Officers were called to a NE Pear Street home at 7:20 p.m. on Dec. 23 in response to a report of a disturbance.

Family members stated that Cedric Taylor, 46, grabbed his daughter by the neck during an argument.

Witnesses said Taylor cursed at one of his daughters and in response, she told him he was "stupid." He then reportedly shoved her against the wall and grabbed her by the throat. The young woman, who told officers she is five months pregnant, said she could not breathe or get away from him and feared for her life and the life of her unborn child.

Her younger sister came to her defense, hitting their father over the head six times with her cell phone. She told officers if she hadn't done so, she feared her sister and the baby would be killed.

After being examined for a contusion on his head, Taylor was given a medical clearance and taken into custody.
