Audrey Jean McCready, 88

Audrey Jean McCready, 88, of St. Charles, died Wednesday, Aug. 5, at her daughter's home in hospice care.

Audrey was born July 25, 1927, in Minneapolis, to Oscar and Lillie (Radiske) Martin. After graduating from St. Louis Park High School in 1945, Audrey went on to graduate from Trinity Seminary & Bible Institute, Minneapolis, and from Mankato State Teachers College. On June 7, 1957, Audrey and Curtis McCready were married in St. Louis Park. In i960, they moved to St. Charles to farm with Curtis' parents.

She taught in Cokato, Mountain Lake, Albert Lea, Chatfield and St. Charles. Audrey was also a substitute teacher in area schools for several years. She and Curtis worked part-time at North Star Foods from 1985-2002. She was an Avon representative for more than 25 years, reaching President's Club level. As a member of St. Charles Bible Church, she enjoyed serving in various ways, such as teaching Sunday school, serving as a deaconess, and participating in Ladies Missionary Fellowship. Audrey was a member of Panhandlers Homemakers.

Survivors include her husband, Curtis; three daughters, Dawn (Alan) Pilcher of Valley Center, Kan.; Bonnie (Nick) Prudoehl of St. Charles; and Darla (Duane, Jr.) Dunavan of Terra Bella, Calif.; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and her brother, the Rev Donald (Nola) Martin of Hutchinson.

Funeral services were held Monday at St. Charles Bible Church, with the Rev. James Barnhart officiating. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery in St. Charles.
