Susan Guinn-Lahm, behavioral health counselor with Desert Senita Community Health Center, teamed up with Bobbi Sud-berry, founder of Kaity's Way, to present the workshop "Kaity's Way: Putting an End to Teen Dating Violence" at the 36lh annual National Organization for Victim Assistance Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah. The four-day event, held August 22 through 25, drew people from around the country and Canada.

Guinn-Lahm's part of the presentation covered how to become a 501(c)(3) approved nonprofit corporation. She used the journey of Kaity's Way as an example of the challenges and benefits of starting a non-profit. She pointed out that, while Sud-berry managed to establish Kaity's Way as a non-profit in 45 days, normally the process takes two to three months or longer. The step-by-step presentation offered the basics to help others promote their causes with the establishment of non-profits, according to Guinn-Lahm.

"Our session was well-attended and we received positive feedback on the usefulness of our presentation." she said. "Of the twenty-six in the audience, twenty-three gave us immediate written feedback."

Guinn-Lahm noted that she represented Desert Senita at the conference and. along with giving the presentation, was able to attend it in its entirety. She said she came away with lots of good information she will be able to use day to day in her capacity at the health center.

"Bobbi and I were very honored to be selected as presenters." she said. "This was our first national conference presentation regarding Kaity's Way."
