Tigers maul the Raiders Saint David 67. Ajo 0

The Saint David Tigers ar number one in the state powe rankings for 1A and the Raider found out why Friday night. The) came away as frustrated as eve ryone else with a final score ol Saint David 67, Ajo 0.

Saint David, using a combination of a superior passing and running game, toyed with the Raiders defense all night. The Tigers, up 47 - 0 at halftime, continue to roll in the second half scoring an additional 20 points. Ajo had no answers for the overall team speed of Saint David.

On offense the Raiders were their own worst enemies. They fumbled away the ball 3 times, and had key penalties that stopped several drives. The Raiders had 216 yards rushing with Kene Richardson picking up

132 of the total. Richardson had a good game on both sides of the ball, also making several key plays on defense. Ajo attempted 16 passes with I reception to Richardson for 15 yards.

As has been his norm all season, Issac Manuel was all over the field on defense making his presence felt.

Austin Wells aggravated his already injured leg in the first half, and left the game with 10 carries for 25 yards. The Tigers keyed on Wells all night and kept him relatively quiet.

Tom McGoldrick's team has been successful against the middle of the pack teams, but if they manage to make the playoffs they will see the caliber of play they faced Friday night. It will be seen if they can improve enough to play at that level.

Friday night they face a San Pascual team that is 0 and 2, having lost to Gila Bend 37-14 in their last game.
