Richard A. "Dickie" Lewis

Owens Memorial Funeral Home Richard A. "Dickie" Lewis of Kingwood, TX passed away September 8, 2010. Mr. Lewis was born May 14, 1944 in Ruston, LA to Elwood Lewis and Joyce Christy. He grew up in Dubach, graduated from Dubach High School in 1962, and from Louisiana Polytechnic Institute in 1966 in business. In May 1966 he married Carolyn Hunter, also of Dubach. lie served in the Air Force Reserve for six years. Mr. Lewis spent his whole career with two companies: Murphy Oil Corporation in El Dorado, AR from 1966 until 1985, and Anadarko Petroleum Corporation in Houston TX from 1985 until his retirement in 2005 at which time he was Vice President of Human Resources. He served on the boards of the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and the College of Business Advisory Board at Louisiana Tech.

Mr. Lewis loved his family. He had a generous heart and got much pleasure from giving to his family and from helping needy people. Some of his benevolent interests in recent years were the Town of Dubach, the College of Business at Louisiana Tech, and the Brazzel Memorial Reunion, Inc. He had a way of weaving funny expressions into his conversation and embellishing a story. He enjoyed listening to gospel music and was a deacon in the Baptist church.

Preceding Mr. Lewis in death were his father Elwood Lewis and his brother Vance Lewis. He is survived his wife Carolyn, two children - daughter Jessica Lewis and husband Nathan Dickerson of Houston, TX, son Carey Lewis and wife Kristin of Houston, TX, his mother Mrs. Joyce Lewis

Arnold of Bossier City, two sisters - Paula Hamilton of Bossier City and Cynthia Farley of San Francisco, CA,. nephew Todd Colvin of Tyler, TX, niece Leah Simmons of Ruston, two great nephews and three great nieces The funeral service for Mr. Lewis was held Sunday, September 12, 2010 at 3 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Dubach with Dr. C. E. Hicks officiating. Interment followed at Corinth Cemetery under the direction of Owens Memorial Funeral Home. Prior to the service, from 1:30 to 2:45 was the viewing, with the family receiving visitors in the Fellowship Hall of the church. If you wish to honor the memory of Mr. Lewis by making a contribution instead of sending flowers, you may send it to the Dubach Restoration and Beautification Organization, the First Baptist Church of Dubach, the Corinth Cemetery Fund, or the charity of your choice.
