Gerald Gordon Palmer

Funeral services for Mr. Gerald G Palmer, age 84 of Dubach, were held Thursday, September 10, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Owens Memorial Chapel in Ruston with Rev. Eddie Rushing and Rev. Richard Able officiating. Burial followed in St. Rest Cemetery in Dubach under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston.

Mr. Palmer was born October 2, 1924 in Henrietta, Texas and died September 8, 2009 at his home in Dubach. He was the retired Service Manager for Jim Paynter Dodge and a veteran of WWII, serving in the US Army. Mr. Palmer was a member of First Baptist Church of Dubach. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching ball games on television, working in his yard, doing crossword puzzles and fishing. He was preceded in death by his son Terry Marsall Palmer, his parents Edward and Ruth Palmer, five brothers and two sisters.

Mr. Palmer is survived by his wife Morita Thomas Baxter Palmer; one son: Gerald T. Palmer and wife Pam of Hodge; one daughter: Debbie Wilson of West Monroe; his step-son Fred Baxter of Dubach, and step-daughter: Cheryl Monroe of Dubach; grandchildren: Misty Palmer of Virginia, Amy Palmer of Nevada, Jamie Palmer and wife Summer of Jonesboro, Jeromy Ambrose of West Monroe, and Brandi and Husband Nathan Henderson of West Monroe; step-grandchildren Tim Baxter of Dubach, Michael Baxter of Calhoun; great granddaughter Allie Claire Palmer and step-great grandson Jacob Baxter; Special friends Faye and George Pilgreen and Charlotte Pilgreen as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

The family would like to extend their thanks to nurse Sally Jones and Ellerweas Lewis with Hospice of Caring Hearts.

Pallbearers were Jeromy Ambrose, Michael Baxter, Tim Baxter, Nathan Henderson, Sammy Ware and David Ficklin. Visitation was held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Ruston.
