On June 4, 2009, at about 1:28 p.m., the Jackson County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant at 145 Gebhardt Road, in the Town of Brockway, Jackson County, Wisconsin, with probable cause to believe that the occupants of the residence were manufacturing and delivering controlled substances; more specifically marijuana.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office Emergency Response Team (ERT) was utilized to execute the search warrant. After the entry and when the residence was safe and secure, deputies located in the upstairs attic area a bedroom type room that had an in-door marijuana growing operation. Inside the room were six (6) fully developed marijuana plants that were planted inside plastic pots or containers. In addition, there was an area in the room that the marijuana plants were being harvested, dried, and processed to be delivered and/or sold. The marijuana plants were collected as evidence. Additional evidence collected at the residence included heat lamps, fans, and other equipment or devices to assist with the manufacturing and possession of marijuana.

The person that was identified as being involved or the suspect in this case is Brandon N. McCormick, male/white, age 28 who resided at the above mentioned address. McCormick was arrested and held at the Jackson County Jail awaiting his initial court appearance. McCormick was charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to deliver (felony), possession of drug paraphernalia, disorderly conduct, and unlawful use of the telephone.

The potential value or possible revenue that could have been received from the manufacturing of the marijuana plants ranges between $800 to $2000 per plant, depending on the quantity and quality of the product.
