The regular monthly meeting was called to order by President Tom Jones at 7:00 p.m. at the Alma Center Village Hall.

Kristine Burlingame, Clerk, certified that the open meeting notice requirements were met.

Mario Spurting submitted the Public Works report for the month of August.

He also spoke to the board regarding the street sweeper. They have been having a lot of trouble with the sweeper arm and shearing the pins off. He will be taking it to Lein's in Hixton to be repaired. He was also asked to sweep the sticks off of Foster Street.

Kristine Burlingame said she is busy with the everyday projects in the office. She will be sending out water/sewer bills at the end of the month along with the quarterly newsletter. She asked permission to mention the new iPearl water meters in the newsletter. She will advise the residents that they need to be careful to not let the meters freeze during the winter. If the meter freezes and breaks because of negligence, they will be charged for replacing the meter.

Under Public Comments, John Hayden talked about the lot that he recently purchased in the Meadow View Addition. He found out the

elevation of the property was lower than he thought and the plumber may say that because of the elevation he would have to have a grinder pump. If this is the case he requested to swap lots. After consulting with Mark Radcliffe the board informally agreed to this.

Tom Jones addressed the board to inform them of a problem with the Village truck. Because the truck did not receive the proper maintenance in the past, the engine and turbo will have to be replaced at an estimated cost of $16,500.

Discussion was held concerning the Smart Growth Comprehensive Plan Ordinance. A motion was made by Ristow/Gearing to approve the ordinance. Discussion was held concerning the Intellisys contract for support for the sewer alarm system. A motion was made by Patterson/Larson to approve the contract. Motion carried.

Discussion was held concerning Pedestrian Crossing Signs for the cross-walks No motion was made but the consensus was to table this item and put it in the budget for next year.

Discussion was held concerning the Water Audit Requirements. One of the requirem3ents was the need for mapping the water/sewer lines along with marking the valves and

hydrants. Mario showed the finished map to the board and explained where everything was located and showed which valves have been exercised during the past month. He also let the board know that Jeff was in the process of putting the details of this map on the computer for the DNR.

Motions were made and approved to:

Approve an operator's license.

Approve the Lincoln High School Construction class as an approved contractor and the village will be paying 50 percent. They, will be replacing sidewalks at the Sobota and Anibas residences. Motion carried.

Send Kris Burlingame to a basic finance class in Eau Claire with an emphasis on budget procedures.
