Trempealeau County Sheriff Richard Anderson has apparently won a squeeker of a Primary election on Tuesday - defeating fellow Democrat Terry Daffinson by only 6 votes.

If the election tally holds up, Anderson will face a challenge from Stephen Doerr in November for the seat.

According to the election results provided by the Trempealeau County Clerk's Office, Anderson garnered 1,512 votes to Daffinson's 1,506 votes.

Anderson carried the City of Blair, 97-30 and the Town of Preston 56-38 votes. He also carried the village of Ettrick, 71-29 and the Town of Ettrick, 151-44.

Daffinson was strongest in the Independence, Arcadia, Osseo and Whitehall areas, also carrying the towns of Pigeon, Hale, Burnside and Arcadia.

The vote may be subject to a recount.

In Jackson County, Jan Moennig, the current deputy clerk of court beat out Terry Goettl

in the Primary.

The two Democrats were the only ones on the ballot for the position. Moennig will be the only candidate for the position on the November ballot.

Goettl is the county's IT technician.

According to election results on the Jackson County website, Moennig received 898 votes to Goettl's 657 votes.
