20 foot blaze destroys motor home Sunday

The Black River Falls Fire Department was called out at 3:54 am. for a camper fire at W10325 HWY 12 S. in the Townslhip of Brockway. This address is that of the Castle Mcound State Park Camp Ground.

Upon arrival the Department found a 36' foot motor home at camp site #3 fully engulfed in 20' high flames. The occupants of the motor home were Timothy Willihganz and Chad Redington, both them and a dog escaped the motor home without injury.

Redington advised he awoke to the odor of smoke and alerted Willihganz in the rear area of the motor home, of the fire.

The 1996 motor home is owned by Timothy Willihganz is a total loss, estimated at between 20-30 thousand dollars. The motor home is insured though.

The fire is under investigation.

The department had 14 Firefighters and five units on the scene for two hours.

The Fire Departments urges everyone to install and check smoke alarms. Neither of these fires had working smoke alarms. All of the occupants are very lucky to be alive.
