Dairy Profit Weekly reports that U.S. Senator Herb Kohl, chair of the Senate Agriculture Appropriations panel and chair of the Senate Subcommittee on Antitrust, Competition Policy and Consumer Rights, received a commitment from the U.S. Department of Justice Antitrust Division to bring a workshop on agriculture competition to Wisconsin. Sen. Kohl and others have called on DOJ and USDA to scrutinize antitrust enforcement in the dairy industry, focusing on the consolidation of milk processors.
