Casey Ray Armendarez, a 2009 Burnet High School graduate three months away from becoming a father, was killed early Thursday when the car in which he was a passenger was involved in a head-on collision on SH 29 just west of Liberty Hill in Williamson County.

Armendarez, 18, who was riding in a car driven by his girlfriend and mother of his unborn child, Spring Luedke, also 18 and also a 2009 Burnet High School graduate, was prounounced dead at the scene.

The wreck occurred at 2:14 a.m., according to a Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman.

Heavy rains fell in the area throughout the day and the evening Wednesday, but it is not known if that contributed to the accident.

The driver of the other car, Gabri-elle Urton, whose address was not immediately available, was taken to Seton Medical Center Williamson in Round Rock with undisclosed injuries. She was listed in fair condition Thursday

Spring Luedke was taken to a Georgetown hospital, where she was treated for cuts and abrasions she sustained while crawling out of the car through the driver side window after the accident.

Luedke is pregnant with the couple's first child. She is expected to give birth in May. Both she and her unborn baby checked out fine at the hospital, said Cheyenne Chapman, a friend and coworker at the Tea-Licious restaurant where Spring Luedke was a familiar face, working as a hostess and at the cash register.

Chapman said she had ridden with Armendarez and Luedke earlier in the evening to Pflugerville, where they spent the evening dancing and socializing with friends at the popular Graham Central Station nightclub.

When Armendarez and Luedke decided to leave, Chapman said she was not ready to leave and opted to stay at the club with other friends and asked the pair to drop off her cell phone and other belongings at her home in Burnet.

They never made it.

Chapman said she and other friends came upon the accident at 3 a.m. as they were returning to Burnet.
