Joe Rex Tatum shipped out on May 14, 2011 at the

Born on Sept. 29, 1929 to Claude and Nan in Clyde, Texas. Followed his big brother Jack into the Navy as soon as possible, serving on the light cruiser USS Pasadena 1946-49, the destroyer USS Frank E. Evans 1951-52, and finally on the destroyer USS Wren 1961-62 during the Cuban Crisis.

In the real world he was an electrician maintaining and building high power lines all over Texas. He loved the outdoors camping, hunting, fishing, from here to there. He is j survived by Mike and Joy, Austin; Melanie, Lubbock; grandsons, Keith, Montclair, Va., Scott, Austin, great grandchildren Garrett, Tillie, and Frannie, Montclair, Va.

Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 17 at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park with Darrell Debo officiating.

Visitation was be held at the funeral home on Monday, May 16, 2011 from 6-8 p.m.
