Ecstasy, marijuana seized in Spicewood

A 29-yejar-old man was arrested Monday in Spicewood on charges of felony possession of the club drug Ecstasy, officials said.

Jarrin Lamar Wyatt was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, a first-degree felony.

Law enforcement officials seized! about 150 Ecstasy tablets--at a going rate of $5 per tablet--during the arrest, authorities said.

Wyatt was taken to Burnet County Jail Monday with bond set at $25,000.

The drug known as Ecstasy--nicknamed for to its euphoric affects on users--is common in big city dance club culture, but not as prevalent in rural communities, authorities said. However, police caught wind of a possible trafficking network earlier this year that helped stream in large amounts of the pill into Burnet County from the Houston area. The arrest Monday was the result of a three-month investigation, authorities said.

Felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute carries a minimum five-year prison sentence and a maximum of 99 years, plus a fine not to exceed $10,000.

The Burnet County Sheriff's Office uniform patrol and Special Operations Unit, and the Marble Falls Police Department were involved in the arrest.

In an unrelated, but coinciding, nearby seizure, county law enforcement stumbled upon and confiscated approximately one pound of hydroponic marijuana left in a restroom behind Hollingsworth Corner in Spicewood.

The marijuana was discovered "in plain view" by a Burnet County sheriffs deputy, said! Sheriff W.T. Smith. "We think because of everything that was going on (during the arrest of Wyatt) they were afraid and just left it in the bathroom."
