Services Held At Presho For Mozelle Moore

Mozelle Moore, 92 of Presho died on Wednesday, August 26 at Mid Dakota Care Center in Chamberlain. Services were held on Monday, August 31 at American Lutheran Church in Presho with Burial at Presho City Cemetery.

Mozelle L. Moore was born on January 13, 1917 on the family homestead, Rogers Hill, near Waco, TX to J.J. and Bethlahoma (Brooks) Rogers. Her mother and five siblings lived in Waco during the school year and on the ranch during the summers. With her musically gifted family, Mozelle and her sisters played many instruments and sang and performed at Church and on the radio in the 30's.

United in marriage to Fred P. Moore on December 1, 1940, they spent the next 58 years together, until Fred's passing on December 9, 1998. Following WWII they moved to South Dakota where they raised their two children: Fred R. Moore (Dec. 29, 1946 - Mar. 29, 2001) and Paula S. Knutson. During the early 50's they made their home in Burke, South Dakota.

During the first 10 years of their marriage, Fred and Mozelle lived in many towns throughout South Dakota, moving with Fred's road construction company. When their children reached school ages, they settled and made their home in Pierre, SD. In 1961 Mozelle purchased and operated "The Children's Shop", a specialty children's clothing store until 1969, after which time they moved to River-ton, WY.

Mozelle moved from Riverton back to Pierre in 2001, to be closer to her daughter and her family and moved again to Presho in 2005. Following a stroke in January of 2008, she has made her home in Chamberlain at the Sanford Long Term Care Home.

Mozelle is survived by her daughter, Paula (T.J.) Knutson, Presho, SD; daughter-in-law Connie Moore, Tacoma, WA; grandchildren: Kristi (Dave) Gourneau, Lakewood, WA, Dana (Dean) Giovi, Tacoma, WA, Stowe (Heidi) Samco and Eric Knutson, Presho; six great-grandchildren; one, great-great-grandchild; sisters-in-law: Pauline Rogers, West TX, Jean Jarvis, Dallas, TX and Claudine Critchfield, Richmond, KS and eight nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Fred P., son, Fred R., brothers: Clyde and Buddy and sisters: Dorothy, Juanita and Marquerite.
