Harold Zelmer

The Canistota Clipper of Canistota, South Dakota

Harold Dale Zelmer was born on April 12, 1935 to Edward and Bertha (Wall) Zelmer. He graduated from Bridgewater High School in 1955. After graduation he farmed with his father on the family farm near Spencer.

Harold was united in marriage to LaVonne Dorale on April 22, 1962. To this union was born three children, Eugene, Vicky and Wanda. They took over the Zelmer family farm until May 1977 when they bought the Wildcat Inn, which they ran together for 33 years.

Harold enjoyed visiting with people at the Wildcat and M&S, ruinning the concession stand during the baseball/softball seasons and always loved playing cards and Wahoo with his grandchildren. He will be missed deeply by all of his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife LaVonne of Bridgewater, one son Eugene (Bonnie) of Canistota, two daughters Vicky (Jeff) Wilson of Rapid City and Wanda (Mark) Haynes of Alexandria, and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister.

Funeral services were held at Zion Lutheran Church in Bridgewater on August 27, 2010, Rev. Junfeng Tan officiating, with internment at Bridgewater City Cemetery.
