Studded tire season should be shortened for sake of roads

During the winter season studded snow tire usage is at an all time high in the Cheney and Spokane communities.

Due to the amount of snow and ice we receive in this area, studded snow tires are very helpful for the drivers. These special tires help your vehicle dig into the snow for better traction. They help prevent people from getting into accidents.

There are some environmental issues with these tires. Due to the ruggedness of the tire, it causes a lot of road damage. There are so many potholes and dents on our highways and side roads from the wear and tear of the studded tires. This makes for

very unsafe traveling, even when you are driving at a low speed.

The good from the studded tires is that they do help to keep the drivers safe and hopefully have lesser accidents. The bad outcome is that the roads are getting ruined, especially when you have the tires on and the roads are clear.

I think the solution that would be best is to shorten the amount of time the studded tires can stay on. I also believe that maybe there is a different kind of material we could use for these studded tires.
