The Spokane Regional Health District's Public Health Clinic is now scheduling appointments for seasonal flu shots. Flu shots are available by appointment only.

At this time, the Health District only has seasonal flu vaccine suitable for adults ages 19 and older. For flu shots for children, parents are urged to call their healthcare provider. When information on flu vaccine for children is available, the Health District will update their website and their Hu Hotline recording.

This flu season, people are being asked to get vaccinated before the seasonal flu season hits, m the United States, seasonal influenza activity can occur as early as October. By getting the seasonal flu vaccine now, people will be protected before the season starts, and it will help reduce some of the overlap of seasonal and H1N1 (swine) influenza vaccination efforts.

In general, anyone who wants to reduce their chances of getting the flu should get vaccinated. However, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that certain people should get vaccinated eachyear.

Most of these people are recommended for vaccination because they are at high risk of having serious flu complications or because they live with or care for people who are at high risk for serious complications
