Spokane County prosecutor alters, drops counts against group of Cheney juveniles

The Spokane County Prosecutor's Office has made changes to counts against five Cheney males arrested in conjunction with two instances of alleged attempted residential burglary and theft in August.

An official with the prosecutor's office, who requested anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the cases publicly, said authorities would take no action against two of the 16-year-olds arrested, citing insufficient facts.

Charges against two other 16-year-olds have been changed to two counts of first-degree criminal trespassing and one count of third-degree theft for both young men.

Additionally, the latter two cases will be sent to diversion, instead of a judge, for recommendations on community service and other measures.

Finally, the case against 18-year-old Max Harris has been declined by Spokane's Juvenile Court and sent back to the original investigating detective. No charges have been filed at this time.
