CopyRaymond J. Dahl, 91, of Lake City, died Monday, Aug. 24,2009, at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in Wabasha.
Raymond J. Dahl was born Nov. 22, 1917, in Pilot Mound, to Peter and Emma (Johnson) Dahl. He attended school in Pilot Mound. On March 12, 1947, he married Laura Crowson in North Prairie. He farmed in the Chatfield area. While living in Lake City, he worked at Golden Loaf for two years and as a machine operator for Federal Mogul in Lake City for 32 years. He also worked at the Jewell Nursery in Lake City for 16 years. She died Feb. 6, 1985.
He married Bernice Walters Nov. 10, 1990. They continued living in Lake City after they were married. Bernice died Feb. 26, 2001.
He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Lake City. He enjoyed fishing and traveling extensively throughout the United States with Bernice.
He touched many people's lives in a memorable way.
He is survived by three daughters, Diane (Bob) Rehder of Red Wing,, Cheryl (Dan Schmitz) Edelbach of Kellogg and Robin (Joseph) Mathews of Red Wing; a son, Rick (Deb Schumann) Dahl of Rochester; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four stepdaughters, Bonnie (Dan) Boots of Bloomington, Minn., Patricia (Dennis) Callinan of Eagan, Minn., Barbara (Rex) Novek of Red Wing and Diane (Greg) Keyport of Brooklyn Park, Minn.; a stepson, Loren (Donna) Walters of Byron; and seven stepgrand-children.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Laura (Crowson) Dahl and Bernice (Walters) Dahl; three brothers; and three sisters.
A memorial service was Thursday, Aug. 27, at 11 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Lake City, with the Rev. Darren Paulson officiating. Burial was in Pilot Mound Lutheran Cemetery.
Mahn Family Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
